Just the on-camera flash -- which normally I try to avoid. There's a super-bright fluorescent tube in that kitchen, which probably contributed to the look.

what a terrific picture. The look is amazing. You have wonderful cats. I have 2 russian blues, these look very alike with the short fur and the big ears.
