Brooklyn Bat

Holy Chiroptera! Last Saturday on my way home from a photo-expedition in Windsor Terrace, I decided to cut through Prospect Park. It was just about sunset, although the skies were too foggy to get sunset photos. I was amazed to see so many bats, and also found that by laying on the ground near a tree, they swooped within a yard or two of me. I thought what the hell and experimented with a few shots, not knowing how autofocus would cope, and not being able to see anything threw the viewfinder. Anyway, despite my minimal expectations, one of the shots came out pretty interesting and spooky... so here it is.

Details: Canon EOS 30D, 11/11/2006 4:52:09 PM, Manual Exposure, 1/90sec @ f5.6, ISO 3200, Focal Length 35.0 mm, Built-In Flash. Photoshop cropping only (NO other processing at all--not even levels!)
